Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using HashNotary ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Service Description

HashNotary provides blockchain-based document certification services. The Service generates SHA-256 cryptographic fingerprints of your documents and records them on the Polygon blockchain, creating an immutable timestamp proof of existence.

3. Account Registration

You must provide accurate registration information
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service

4. Service Plans and Payment

Free Tier: 3 complimentary document seals upon registration
Pay-as-you-go: $15 per document certification
Professional: $99/month for 20 certifications
Enterprise: $499/month for unlimited certifications

All payments are processed via cryptocurrency (MATIC or USDC) on the Polygon network. Cryptocurrency transactions are irreversible. Ensure the accuracy of all payment amounts before confirming.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to use the Service to:

Certify documents for illegal purposes
Attempt to reverse-engineer or compromise the platform
Exceed rate limits or abuse the API
Misrepresent the nature of blockchain certification as a legal notarization substitute in jurisdictions where specific notarization requirements exist

6. Important Disclaimers

      HashNotary is NOT a substitute for legal notarization. Our service provides cryptographic proof of a document's existence at a specific point in time. It does not replace notarization, legal authentication, or apostille services where required by law. Consult legal professionals regarding the admissibility of blockchain evidence in your jurisdiction.
    

7. Zero-Knowledge Limitation

Due to our Zero-Knowledge Architecture, we cannot access, recover, or verify the contents of your original documents. If you lose your original document, we cannot reconstruct it from the hash. You are solely responsible for maintaining copies of your documents.

8. Blockchain Immutability

Records published to the Polygon blockchain are permanent and immutable. Once a document hash is sealed on-chain, it cannot be deleted, modified, or reversed by anyone — including HashNotary.

9. Limitation of Liability

HashNotary provides the Service "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for:

Losses arising from blockchain network issues or delays
Legal decisions regarding blockchain evidence admissibility
Loss of documents on your end
Temporary service interruptions

Maximum liability is limited to the fees paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Intellectual Property

You retain all rights to your documents. HashNotary claims no ownership over any content you certify through the Service. The HashNotary brand, logo, and platform design are our intellectual property.

11. Termination

Either party may terminate the agreement at any time. Upon termination, your account will be deactivated but blockchain records will remain immutable and publicly verifiable forever.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms periodically. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
